Dear BFL Supporter:

In this season of giving, I’d like you to consider making a contribution to the Better Family Life Cultural, Educational and Business Center (BFL-CEBC), a facility that will undoubtedly become a legacy to be enjoyed for many generations to come.  That’s where you come in!  Your generous contribution will make a difference.

What’s in it for you?  You will have access to a center located at 5415 Page Boulevard that will be a catalyst to cultural and artistic learning, social services, downpayment assistance for 1st time homebuyers, foreclosure prevention, youth development, financial literacy training, workforce training and a technology center. In addition, the facility will offer rental space to small business community enterprises, host community gatherings such as weddings, proms, artistic presentations, and other usages that will generate sustainable and long term revenue for BFL.  The Cultural Center promises to become a hub of business activities which will be a source of job creation for community residents.

Since we purchased the Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School (a registered historic landmark) with the intent of converting the 60,000 sq. ft. building into the Better Family Life Cultural, Educational and Business Center, we have been working diligently to raise funds to complete the project.  Even through the tough economic times of the 2007-2009 recession, we did not give up.  Our perseverance is paying off; and in November 2010 we received a letter of commitment from Fifth Third Bank to finance a major portion of the renovation costs.  This coupled with Brownfield, historic and new market tax credits puts us within $1 million of our goal of raising $13.1 million to complete the facility.  We are very close and your contribution is certain to help us reach it!

Better Family Life, Inc. is a Missouri non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt community development corporation, dedicated to the prosperity and growth of the American family.  In February 1983, BFL was organized out of a need to find internal solutions to the crises that are unique to low-to-moderate income communities. Annually, we serve over 30,000 citizens located throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

Should you have any questions please contact my assistant, Ms. Connie Wilson at 314.446.8215.   Remember, your generous contribution will make a difference!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire Better Family Life Staff I’d like to wish you and yours Happy Holidays and a healthy New Year.

Sincerely,

Malik Ahmed, CEO
