Community Outreach

The goal of our Community Outreach Department is to transform at-risk individuals

reclaim high-crime communities through education and employment resources, grassroots efforts, and community action.

At Better Family Life, we believe the safety of a neighborhood is essential to its health and economic success, as well as the quality of life for its residents. It takes collaboration among law enforcement, community-based organizations and community members to stop crime and strengthen the social fabric of a neighborhood.

BFL’s James Clark is working with families in the BFL Community Outreach program

Our participation in St. Louis City and St. Louis County crime prevention movements has reduced crime significantly and positively impacted many individuals.

A recent news report suggests that our outreach efforts have helped decrease crime to its lowest rates in more than 40 years (see: “Crime dips to lowest in decades“).

BFL Community Outreach recently completed a one-year intensive neighborhood engagement project in four more-challenged neighborhoods in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area: Hyde Park, JeffVanderLou, Penrose and Wells-Goodfellow. We are happy to have met and exceeded the goals connecting residents to vital resources. This activity is financed in part through an allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of St. Louis’ Community Development Administration.

Charter Communications is also a valued partner in our work to make St. Louis City Penrose neighborhood  safer. Thank you Charter Communications for your support!
